Unite 4 Christ visits Marietta’s Homeless

Posted by tiant | Unite4Christ Blog | Sunday 10 January 2010 8:38 pm

January 9 at 9:15pm

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. (Matthew 25:35-36)

Today my wife and I had the experience of going out in Marietta and feeding the homeless. This was such an eye opener for both of us. As I walked down the railroad tracks looking for a place they call tent city I had no idea what to expect. I thought to myself will they try and run me off, will they think I was there to mess with them, would they would be angry at me for intruding on them, or would they be afraid to talk to me. As I got closer I saw an area full of tents all of different colors. I walked down the hill and introduced myself to them and we talked for a few minutes. I told them my purpose in coming today was to bless them with some food and clothing. They were all very nice and grateful for everything. What a feeling to be able to be a blessing to others! God is good all the time!

Tiant McCrary and Josh Glover with Womens Self Defense Class

Tiant McCrary and Josh Glover with Women's Self Defense Class

I spent this past Sunday at Edgefield Baptist Church
Home for pastor Rev.Lyman Barnes
Home of some strong women
with strong front kicks
and who can get out of submission holds easily
Unite 4 Christ was hosting a Women’s Self-Defense Class
Thanks to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter Josh Glover
and personal trainer / Unite 4 Christ Director Tiant McCrary
Tiant owns Total Body Transformations
and is great at whipping people into shape
I was suprised to hear that Josh is a 4th degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Purple Belt
He also won the King of the Ring Muay Thai 155lb championship belt
I was asked to take pictures and otherwise document the class
I got nervous as I watched them prep by putting on cups!
I imagined myself getting used as a punching bag as we prepped for the class
After all I was in the company of two training professionals
I did not want my little nephew who was hanging with me to see me beat up!
So I was thankful to be holding the camera
After a long, beautiful country drive
We arrived at the church
Don’t know why I was nervous
I was not getting kicked and punched by church women
I thought the cameras would make the women nervous
It was great to see them relaxed and ready
Then it started…

I begin to learn!

Tiant and Josh were such great teachers
As they explained situational challenges
they gave live demonstrations
Then they would line the women up
and let them gain first hand experience
I doubt that any women in that class
Will think twice about not defending themselves correctly
They learned submission holds
They learned how to break strangle and choke holds
They learned to be aware of their surroundings
and best of all…

I learned as well!

As I sat behind the camera,
I studied their movements
I listened to their theories
I watched the room of ladies attach to their words
The young girls seemed to enjoy the kicking the most
A chance to kick a man below the belt!
I understood the need for them to feel contact
So when the situation arises
They do not fear kicking, punching or elbowing
Creating space between themselves and their attacker
Keeping enough space to get away
And get help

We laughed as the elderly woman in the corner
Stated that she would simply pull out her gun
we knew she was serious when
She did not smile…

I loved the persistance of Ms. Jasmine
As she kicked until her Jeans split!
But borrowed a pair of sweats from the instructor
and continued throughout the class

I appreciated the sister with arthritis
Who still got a few kicks in

I was amazed at the amount of knowledge
Shared and displayed by the young champion fighter
Josh Glover
I had no idea of the amount of training that Tiant had
not until this day

Now I am left in shock
Proud to be affiliated with such passionate brothers
They’ve shown me a new program
We’ve been focusing on mentorship and other programs
that are a stretch for our resources
But these self-defense / life coaching seminars are great!

We plan to roll this out to churches across the nation
We plan to keep on keeping God first

We are Unite 4 Christ, Inc.
And we need your support
We need your participation
We accept your donations
We mirror your love

The Challenge of Unity

Posted by mario@unite4christ.us | Unite4Christ Blog | Wednesday 2 December 2009 3:36 am

It is 4:55am
I’ve been up since 3:30am
Bothered by the inability of mankind to simply “get along”
One of Christ’s most prominent teachings is to Love one another
It’s embedded throughout any biblical reading that you can find
Written in multiple languages across multiple doctrines
So why is it that we can all get along?
Is it foolish pride, selfishness, ignorance, or what?
I guess it does not matter what it is called…
I call it
Sadness…
I work with clients around the globe
Many of which could greatly benefit from sharing resources
But there are only a handful that would be open to it
Seems as if the economy has created a wave of “survivalist”
All trying to be the big shark dominating life’s ocean
I have friends around the globe
I’ve heard their stories and seen their struggles
All working their individual lanes
Struggling…
My goal for 2009 was to bridge my resources
Those that have done so have profited, mentally, socially, and financially
Those that have not continue to struggle
in their individual lanes
sadness…
It seems that some people stand with their hand out
And when we reach out to help
the begin to struggle and pull inward
And to keep from getting pulled into their downward spiral
We have to let go
The older generation call this “letting go and letting God”
I call it
Sadness…
I continue to reach out to all who ask for help
Praying and hoping that I’m not pulled into their struggles
I’m already in several
And I’m fighting with every vein in my body to help myself and them to get out
Trying…
What do I do when it seems that I have a way out
But there is only room for me to exit?
This is the challenge of Unity
someone always has to sacrifice
Christ sacrificed for the church
he gave his life in the worst way
he was pulled into our struggle and he stayed until there was a way out
He “sacrificed” and made a way out for us all

We all say we want to be like him
We all claim to be “saved” and “christians”
But how many will be pulled into another’s struggle
And show them a clear way out
Who is willing to endure through
Drug abuse, Neglect, Abandonment, Foolish Pride, Drunkenness,
homosexuality, obesity, bankruptcy and all those things
that characterize our many differences?
Anyone still got their volunteer hands raised?

We should examine ourselves and prepare
We should aspire to meet the Challenge of Unity
We should not fear evil to the point where we cant help deliver others from it

God gave his only son,
Jesus gave his life for our sins.
What will we give to meet the challenge of unity?

Celebrate love with our newest couple Tiant and Ebony McCrary!

Celebrate love with our newest couple Tiant and Ebony McCrary!

I was asked to video tape a wedding for my Co-Founders Tiant and Ebony
I was so tired after spending the week of in Las Vegas with my wife of 5 years.
I lost access to my video camera, and was ready to back out
But a close friend of ours came through for Tiant and I was back in the wedding!
I’ve never filmed a wedding before, but I did shoot the videos for my music group
I didnt know what to expect.
Thought I would not know anyone and be looking like a lame duck
I was happy to see a host of people from my childhood
Many who I had not seen in years!
Surprised any of them recognized me as they were mostly the age of my oldest brother Angelo.
The 1420 room is such a beautiful venue!
We used it for two of our shows and had great turn-outs
The spacious lounge invites you in with bronze-like hardwood floors
Enormous mirrors line the walls opposite the lounge bar
Where patrons stand ready to take your drink request
I imagined the Bride and Groom entering the main hall
Boasting tall white columns, white chairs with golden legs,
DJ spinning love songs, Cakes on both sides of the venue
Beautiful cakes just begging to be eaten!!
The minister tells me to wave at him if his voice is too low for the camera
But I know that he wont be paying attention to little me in the corner
I had to sneak next door to get some food to make up for my lack of breakfast
I spoke to Tiant’s nephew who was so mature for his age
But then began bragging about buying his own expensive clothes
I pause from the wedding story to share that I spoke with him about investing
A kid his age could invest $100-$200mth and retire before they turn 40!
Well by this time next month the couple will know that the camera shook a few times
As I accidentally kicked the tripod! (My first wedding video remember )
I recorded the guest pouring in
I got the bride and groom party coming in
Then the bride came
Glowing! Beautiful!
They exchanged vows and the REG and Erika began to sing
Their voices blending while singing as if they were at a concert in front of 1,000′s
The only way it should be done!
I’m still upset at REG for not dropping a CD, I actually recorded a verse on a song of his a few year back!
Then they exchanged rings before the all too famous…

KISSS

before dancing down the aisle!
I was caught off guard and had to adjust the camera to catch Tee’s fancy footwork
Ebony seemed to glide as the long white gown covered her feet
ANd as they left the room I took a sigh of relief
It was good
No major mistakes besides the minister pronouncing Tiant as “Ty-ant”

Then they ate and danced the day away!
Father and daughter, bride and groom, best man and maid of honor,
Q and Jason and Josten and all the others laughing and dancing the day away
Such a wonderful site
Such a diverse dance floor
The women always waiting to catch the bouquet wanting to one up the current wedding celebration
The men always avoid catching anything!
Single men not ready to commit
Married men not wanting the headaches of organizing another wedding
I sat the camera down and ate TWO pieces of cake
one from each cake in the room
I smiled as the Chocolate melted in my mouth
Thinking Tiant had done good for himself
I didn’t know him well in high school
Pops would not let us hang out if not at a school sport event
So I was isolated in so many words
I knew Tiant had a history, knew he had struggled to get to this point
I felt he had fought for every minute of this celebration
A lifetime of hardships traded for a lifetime of help with hardships
As a married man I know the importance of having a partner!
A loved one to overcome with
And I smiled for Tiant as I ate the cake greedily
I had missed the meal from recording people eating and dancing
I got a good feeling from Ebony
I reached to shake her hand but she made me hug her
We are family now
I’ve always been shy when first meeting others
A handshake makes me feel safe! lol!
But a hug makes me feel like someone actually cares
I see something great in Tiant
I’ve been helping him with everything I have to start a business
I’m honored to have them both as co-founders of Unite 4 Christ, Inc.
What a way to start a life!
What a way to began a charity!
